Smog Walk
For this walking exercise the task was to find a repeating unit or marker in the built environment and to walk for 10 units. Sketching and drawing was to be used as the form of documentation.
I decided to do my walk up Big Cottonwood Canyon which is home to a few Ski Resorts and is located right outside of Salt Lake City. Since the canyon is constantly backed up in traffic with cars trying to drive up or parked on the side I used a car length as my unit. As I walked it was very hard to breathe due to all the car fumes for what you would expect to be some of the cleanest air compared to the inversion in the valley of Salt Lake.
